Getting connected in Finland

Internet

Finland's rate of Internet penetration is amongst the highest in the world. Competition amongst Internet Service Providers (ISPs) is increasing, although prices are still relatively high. Connection and download speeds are extremely fast and increase as the network improves.

The greatest benefit of the modern and efficient Internet infrastructure in Finland is its reliability. There is no limit on how much any individual can download and connection speeds do not suffer as network usage increases. It is typical to be paying around 50 Euro a month for a broadband ADSL connection.

Below is a list of the principle ISPs in Finland arranged in order of size:

Internet Cafes in Finland

Internet cafes are most common in Helsinki but should be available in most major towns and cities. They are usually fast and easy to use, although they tend to be quite expensive. Many hotels and some restaurants have wireless hotspots where you can connect your laptop free of charge.
